I had never tasted food so rich and full of history. We learned to prepare gallo pinto from scratch, even roasted coffee the traditional way. The host family was super kind and taught us everything with great patience. I felt right at home! Definitely one of the best ways to truly get to know Costa Rica.

This tour was much more than cooking: it was a class in culture, history, and human warmth. From hand-made tortillas to arroz con leche, everything was delicious and made with fresh ingredients from the garden. Ideal for those wanting to go beyond the touristy stuff and connect with the real thing.

We went with our kids (7 and 10 years old) and they had a great time. They loved making sweet empanadas and using ingredients they’d never seen before. The only downside was a small delay with the return transport, but aside from that, it was a lovely experience.

I didn’t know how to cook at all, but the instructions were clear, the atmosphere was relaxed, and I ended up making a full casado! I even learned to make picadillo de chayote! The group was small, which allowed for more personalized attention. Highly recommended.
