Rainforest Hanging Bridges Hike
Heliconias Hanging Bridges & Rainforest hike is located in the foothills of the Tenorio Volcano. It is a private reserve with spectacular views of the rural community of Bijagua and Lake Nicaragua.
This location offers the opportunity to experience ecotourism and a natural hike in one. Here you will find a quiet and peaceful atmosphere that provides incredible biodiversity on over 75 hectares of primary rainforest which adjoin with the Tenorio Volcano National Park.
A guided tour over the three suspension bridge trail will bring you closer to the wonderful biodiversity of the rainforest, a privileged area for those who love nature and birds.
The canopy level bridges allow you to safely experience the great complexity of the forest from a different perspective.
Our naturalist guides will teach you many things about the rainforest and will help you see the different wildlife through binoculars and a telescope. Some of the wildlife you may encounter are monkeys, sloths, white nose coati, snakes, insects, and birds like the toucan, woodpecker, motmot, and tanager. If you are lucky, maybe you’ll even spot a tapir.
During the drive from the hotel to the private reserve, we’ll have the chance to find sloths because there is an important biological corridor coming from the Tenorio Volcano down to the community. We can find two species of sloths (the two toed and three toed). It is almost certain that you will see this amazing and lazy animal.
