Rural Hourseback Riding Tour

Explore with us the natural and beautiful rural community of Bijagua which is located between Tenorio and Miravalles Volcanoes.

Bijagua offers many different types of terrain. From flat gravel roads along open cattle pastures and patches of rainforest, to economic plantations and amazing mountain views of both volcanoes. We can ride the horse to the foothills of Tenorio Volcano and explore the beautiful rural area in a nice road with very few passing cars.

Surely you will have the opportunity to see amazing animals of the rainforest up close like Howler Monkeys, Sloths, Toucans and many other birds during the tour.

While riding the horse in our community you can feel the expression of the “Pura vida” and you will also see how we live in the rural areas of Costa Rica. Viewing the beautiful gardens and the domestic animals during the Bijagua horseback riding tour is definitely an exhilarating experience. One of the most beautiful point of the tour is when you are on the top of one mountain and you can enjoy the view of the Miravalles Volcano.

An incredible experience. We rode through trails surrounded by coffee fields, rivers, and mountains with breathtaking views. The horses were well cared for and very gentle. Our guide was friendly and explained everything about the local plants, animals, and rural life. Total pura vida!

This horseback ride was exactly what I needed. Far from the noise, all we could hear were the birds and the wind. The route through fields and forests was relaxing and magical. At the end, they offered us fresh fruit and local coffee. You really can't ask for more.

It was my first time riding a horse and I felt completely safe. The guide was very attentive, explained every step of the way, and helped us get on and off the horses. We saw toucans, butterflies, and even a sloth! The only thing I’d improve is having a longer stop for photos.

Beyond the horseback riding, what I loved most was learning about rural life. We visited a small farm where we learned about local agriculture and tasted fresh products. It was a truly authentic and enriching experience.
